GRAND RIVER RIVERFRONT PARK BRIDGE

Opened summer 2019, this 553-foot timber truss bridge is the longest in the US and provides a key connection to the community and nearby trails. With a $3 million project value, LRE was instrumental in securing $2.5 million from MEDC. As the prime consultant, we led feasibility studies, permitting, design, bidding and construction.

CUDDY INTERCOUNTY DRAIN

LRE developed a holistic, sustainable solution to upgrade failing infrastructure, construct a stable channel geometry, reduce the sediment load, limit debris and improve water quality. Culverts were sized to span the bankfull width and provide a natural channel bottom for fish passage. Natural channel design was incorporated into the Allegan County portion of the project to develop a stable dimension, pattern and profile.

RESIDENT FEEDBACK

the end product is a beautiful, navigable channel that is clean and safe from debris, stable from erosion – and the upstream drain is actually a very lovely place to see!

TOWNLINE DRAIN IMPROVEMENTS

This project represents LRE’s skill and ability to manage complex projects. Amtrak trains, combined with M-96 traffic eliminated the option of cutting the intersection open. Trenchless methods were utilized to complete the storm sewer installation through the MDOT and Amtrak ROW. To further add complexity, we learned through the permitting process that Amtrak was planning on intersection improvements, beginning with the 22- mile segment between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek.

north park expansion

In 2015, LRE developed a master plan for a 30-acre expansion of the Grand River Riverfront Park on the north side of the Grand River. LRE worked with the Township Board and local community to bring their dreams and visions to reality. The $1.25 million project was conducted in three phases over four years.

The park expansion, locally referred to as North Park, is located in a growing part of the community and will provide numerous recreational activities for both residents and visitors.

Amenities include more than 1-mile of internal paved trails, an 8-court pickleball complex designed for tournament play, 18-hole disc-golf course, playgrounds, pavilion/picnic areas, 88-space paved parking lot and a restroom/concession facility.
